DELHI EXPLORER DAY TOUR
“If there is one place on the face of earth where all the dreams of living men have found a home from the
very earliest days when man began the dream of existence, it is India!” - Romaine Rolland
ITINERARY
Your private tour begins at your New Delhi hotel or IDG airport. Pick-up is at 8:30 am and we'll begin our tour in historic Old Delhi.
We will start by visiting Jama Masjid – the largest mosque in India built by Shah Jahan in 1644. The beautiful red sandstone monument sits above the Chandni Chowk and offers a view of the bustling city below.
Next, we will tour The Red Fort – the palace, gardens and private quarters of the last Mogul king, Shah Mohammad Zafir. The grounds are steeped in the elegance of his era and you can imagine his court and daily life from the many marble buildings.
Enroute to the Indian War Memorial
(India Gate) we'll visit more recent history as well – the expansive memorial and gardens of Mahatma Ghandi, the father of Indian Independence
Tea stop and light lunch on our way to Humayun’s Tomb. The huge complex was the model for the famous Taj Mahal and the first mausoleum for a Mughal emperor. It was constructed
in a symmetrical plan following the 15th century Timurid architectural style using elements such as a bulbous double dome and a high portal in the front elevation.
Lotus Temple, Qutab Minar, Ashkardam and the Ram temple – all different examples of India’s diverse culture - are following on our tour.
Sabadarjung’s Day Tomb on the Lodhi Road, next to the expansive gardens of the same name is our next stop.
